Sony's two new entry-level ILCs

The Sony Alpha NEX-F3 produces very nice low- to midrange-sensitivity pictures, plus you can configure it for streamlined shooting, and it delivers solid overall performance. The new automated self-portrait feature is also a boon for people who like to put themselves in the picture. But the LCD can be difficult to view in bright light and the SD card slot is in a bad spot for tripod users. Though it doesn't wow us in any particular aspect, the Sony Alpha NEX-F3 is a nice overall package for photographers looking for something with better photo quality and more flexibility than a point-and-shoot.
From photo and video cameras to printers to scanners, get the latest reviews, features, and advice on digital imaging tech in everyday life.

The 12-35mm f2.8 Micro Four Thirds lens could be perfect when you want something better than the standard 14-42mm kit model; whether it is or not depends upon the as-yet unannounced price.
