Ubuntu Security Notice USN-2327-1
August 28, 2014
squid3 vulnerability
==========================================================================
A security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives:
- Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
Summary:
Squid could be made to crash if it received specially crafted network
traffic.
Software Description:
- squid3: Web proxy cache server
Details:
Matthew Daley discovered that Squid 3 did not properly perform input
validation in request parsing. A remote attacker could send crafted Range
requests to cause a denial of service.
Update instructions:
The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following
package versions:
Ubuntu 14.04 LTS:
squid3 3.3.8-1ubuntu6.1
Ubuntu 12.04 LTS:
squid3 3.1.19-1ubuntu3.12.04.3
In general, a standard system update will make all the necessary changes.
