transmission vulnerability
==========================================================================

A security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives:

- Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 13.10
- Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

Summary:

Transmission could be made to crash or run programs if it received
specially crafted network traffic.

Software Description:
- transmission: lightweight BitTorrent client

Details:

Ben Hawkes discovered that Transmission incorrectly handled certain peer
messages. A remote attacker could use this issue to cause a denial of
service, or possibly execute arbitrary code.

Update instructions:

The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following
package versions:

Ubuntu 14.04 LTS:
transmission-common 2.82-1.1ubuntu3.1

Ubuntu 13.10:
transmission-common 2.82-0ubuntu1.1

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS:
transmission-common 2.51-0ubuntu1.4

After a standard system update you need to restart Transmission to make all
the necessary changes.

miniupnpc vulnerability
==========================================================================

A security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives:

- Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 13.10
- Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

Summary:

MiniUPnPc could be made to crash if it received specially crafted network
traffic.

Software Description:
- miniupnpc: UPnP IGD client lightweight library client

Details:

It was discovered that MiniUPnPc incorrectly handled certain buffer
lengths. A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to cause
applications using MiniUPnPc to crash, resulting in a denial of service.

Update instructions:

The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following
package versions:

Ubuntu 14.04 LTS:
libminiupnpc8 1.6-3ubuntu2.14.04.1

Ubuntu 13.10:
libminiupnpc8 1.6-3ubuntu2.13.10.1

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS:
libminiupnpc8 1.6-3ubuntu1.1

After a standard system update you need to restart your session to make all
the necessary changes.

Ubuntu Security Notice USN-2281-1

linux-ec2 vulnerabilities
==========================================================================

A security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives:

- Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

Summary:

Several security issues were fixed in the kernel.

Software Description:
- linux-ec2: Linux kernel for EC2

Details:

Sasha Levin reported a flaw in the Linux kernel's point-to-point protocol
(PPP) when used with the Layer Two Tunneling Protocol (L2TP). A local user
could exploit this flaw to gain administrative privileges. (CVE-2014-4943)

A flaw was discovered in the Linux kernel's audit subsystem when auditing
certain syscalls. A local attacker could exploit this flaw to obtain
potentially sensitive single-bit values from kernel memory or cause a
denial of service (OOPS). (CVE-2014-3917)

Don Bailey discovered a flaw in the LZO decompress algorithm used by the
Linux kernel. An attacker could exploit this flaw to cause a denial of
service (memory corruption or OOPS). (CVE-2014-4608)

Update instructions:

The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following
package versions:

Ubuntu 10.04 LTS:
linux-image-2.6.32-368-ec2 2.6.32-368.84

After a standard system update you need to reboot your computer to make
all the necessary changes.

ATTENTION: Due to an unavoidable ABI change the kernel updates have
been given a new version number, which requires you to recompile and
reinstall all third party kernel modules you might have installed. If
you use linux-restricted-modules, you have to update that package as
well to get modules which work with the new kernel version. Unless you
manually uninstalled the standard kernel metapackages (e.g. linux-generic,
linux-server, linux-powerpc), a standard system upgrade will automatically
perform this as well.
