Novell ZENworks Application Virtualization 7 Ensures Smooth and Secure Application Deployment

Novell ZENworks Application Virtualization 7 Ensures Smooth and Secure Application Deployment

- Integration with Novell ZENworks Configuration Management simplifies management, reduces application compatibility issues and controls deployment costs

WALTHAM, Mass. -- March 4, 2009 -- Novell today announced the availability of Novell(R) ZENworks(R) Application Virtualization 7, which for the first time can be integrated with Novell ZENworks Configuration Management, to help customers and managed service provides reduce the cost of testing, packaging and configuring virtual applications. ZENworks Application Virtualization eliminates application compatibility problems with Windows* desktops for greater security and management. This easy-to-use solution simplifies management and ensures secure, successful application deployment and operating system upgrades.

"Customers today are looking for solutions that help them simply and securely roll out applications and new operating systems to their users," said Joe Wagner, senior vice president and general manager of System and Resource Management Solutions at Novell. "The ability to integrate ZENworks Application Virtualization with ZENworks Configuration Management delivers the 'one-two punch' that customers need to knock down the burden of application deployment, eliminating compatibility problems, without increasing administration costs in their IT enterprise."

With this latest release, customers can quickly publish virtual applications to their ZENworks Configuration Management zone without ever leaving the packaging tool. ZENworks Application Virtualization allows customers to restrict virtual applications from running on devices not registered with their ZENworks Configuration Management zone and convert legacy applications into virtual applications - eliminating compatibility issues.

ZENworks Application Virtualization allows Windows administrators and managed service providers to quickly package applications into a secure, standalone executable that can be distributed and run on any Windows Vista*, Windows XP or Windows 2000 workstations without a traditional install. With this latest release, virtual packages are isolated from the installation and configuration process in order to prevent them from interfering with other applications. Additionally, once the application is created it can now be distributed across Windows desktops using ZENworks management solutions.

Part of a complete endpoint management strategy, ZENworks Application Virtualization helps customers  secure their desktops through the deployment of encapsulated applications, which prevent conflicts and  control costs. With ZENworks Application Virtualization 7, customers can more easily configure file association and icons so that the application feels like every other Windows application to the end user, as well as enable optional application compression and distribute patches for virtual applications independent from the application itself.

Availability

Novell ZENworks Application Virtualization is available for a list price of $39 per user or instance license. For more information about application virtualization from Novell, visit www.novell.com/zav .
