1. Kaspersky Lab collects three prestigious SC Magazine business awards
Eugene Kaspersky in London to accept the awards and to discuss evolving threats at Information Security Europe 2007
Abingdon, UK, 25 April 2007 - Establishing itself as a leading business security software vendor in the European market, Kaspersky Lab collected three awards for its Kaspersky Open Space Security solution at last night's SC magazine awards ceremony.
Kaspersky Lab won 'highly commended' in three categories of the prestigious awards: Best Anti-Malware Solution; Best SME Security Solution; and Security Product of the Year. It was a finalist in four categories of the awards: Best Anti-Malware Solution; Best SME Security Solution; Security Product of the Year; and the Innovation Award for Technology.
The SC Magazine awards showcase the best products and services in the information security industry, and are voted for by both readers of the international IT security magazine and an independent judging panel. Paul Fisher, editor, SC Magazine, said: 'The SC Magazine Awards Europe highlight the very best of the security industry and attract around 1,300 nominations each year. The awards reward excellence and are unrivalled in terms of prestige. To be nominated in four categories is a great achievement.'
Says Eugene Kaspersky, co-founder and head of anti-virus research at Kaspersky Lab: 'This is a great achievement. These awards represent a further mark of recognition of Kaspersky Lab's growing importance in its role protecting complex enterprise organisations. We are delighted.'
Visitors to this year's Information Security Europe 2007 event at London Olympia (24th to 27th April) can hear Eugene Kaspersky speak at Kaspersky Lab's Cybercrime forum, between 14.00 and 16.00 today (25 April) in the London Room, Olympia.
Eugene Kaspersky will also present his views on the new threat to businesses, in a session entitled Work Without Frontiers: Securing Today's Open Space Business, part of Information Security 2007's Business Track. This presentation will take place in the Business Theatre at 10.40-11.05am on 26 April. He will focus on the recent shift towards the trans-perimeter environment, whereby employees move in and out of the traditional corporate perimeter, meaning an increasing number of mobile devices operate outside the reach of traditional network security. He will also address how, as these mobile devices start to carry more and more valuable corporate data, they become a more attractive target for the writers of malicious code; and are vulnerable to targeted and combined threats that demonstrate a greater adeptness at exploiting vulnerabilities and concealing their activities.
